So much good music came out this year. Personally for me, RnB heavily made a comeback in 2021 into my rotation. 2 years into the pandemic, I am grateful to artists who continue to create and share their art with us. It feels like a huge gift of healing. I know I desperately needed their music this year. Most of these albums make me want to fall in love. Haha. Enjoy my top 5 albums of 2021!

 

Gallant – Neptune

Hands down this is my favorite album of 2021. There’s something really nostalgic about this album because it leans heavily into the 90s RnB vibe. Just an absolutely solid body of work by Gallant. Random fact, I got introduced to Gallant through K-pop. He has stayed in my rotation since then. He doesn’t disappoint.

Favorite Track: Julie.

Runner Up: Comeback.

 

Bruno Mars & Anderson .Paak – An Evening With Silk Sonic

Do I even need to explain myself? This album has 0 skips and is so damn fun. Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak’s collaboration album is so wonderful. This album is meant to be experience live so I hope they tour once it’s safe to do so.

Favorite Track: Skate

Runner Up: Smokin Out the Window

 

SEVENTEEN – Attacca

Technically this is a mini-album. As a ‘Carat’, the Seventeen fandom, personally this is in the top 3 of their entire discography for me. I find myself singing out loud and dancing throughout the entire album. Watch the choreo on Youtube, you will appreciate the songs even more. The boys just seem like they are having so much fun with this release.

Jazmine Sullivan – Heaux Tales

This is Jazmine Sullivan’s first album since 2015! This album is so relatable for me as a woman in her thirties who feels both empowerment and insecurities when it comes to relationships and sex. Really great features as well. What a great comeback album from her. Her vocals are top notch.

Favorite Track: Lost One

Runner Up: Pick Up Your Feelings

 

Pink Sweat$ – PINK PLANET

I don’t really remember where or how I discovered Pink Sweat$, but he is highly underrated. I love his whole sound and vibe. This man clearly wears his heart on his sleeve. I love that he’s so open and honest about his feelings. This might be weird, but I’d describe this album as cute.
